Medical Visa

Eligibility: A Medical visa is given to those who are travelling to India for a medical treatment.

Registration is required within 14 days of arrival if visa is valid for more than 180 days.

How to apply:

> Apply for e-Medical Visa at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html 

From submission of the application to the issuance of visa, e-Visa is a completely online procedure for which no facilitation from Embassy is required. Here are simple steps: 

Apply for e-Visa and make payment of Visa Fee Online

Check status online. Once the e-visa is approved, the applicant will receive notification on registered email.




Login into the e-Visa website and take printout of the e-Visa and travel to India with a valid passport. 

OR

Apply for a regular (paper sticker) Medical Visa by filling the online application at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html and submit a printout of the application along with the following documents at the Embassy of India Athens. 

Documents Required: 

  • Printed Visa Application form signed in blue, as per signature on passport with uploaded photo.
  • Original Passport with at least 2 continuous blank pages, in good condition.
  • Two photocopies of Passport pages with details.
  • Photocopy of previous Indian Visa if any.
  • Two recent identical colored photographs, with 5 cm x 5cm dimensions, on white background with 70% of face zoom.
  • In case the applicant holds a 2nd Nationality Passport, a photocopy of passport page with details.
  • Minors (below 12 years of age) should be accompanied by one parent along with photocopy of parent’s Passport or National ID Card for official submission.
  • Proof of availability of sufficient funds for the expenses in India, included the expenses for medical treatment (bank statement, copy of bank passbook)
  • Copy of flight ticket booking/reservation.
  • Invitation letter signed and stamped from the hospital concerned in India should be provided on the letter head of the hospital/ treatment centres in India with applicant’s details.
  • Any other supporting documents from a Greek Hospital has to be provide

Please note that the Embassy of India, Greece, reserves the right to ask for additional documents if required.

Medical Attendant Visa

Eligibility: A Medical Attendant visa is given to those who are accompanying a patient has been granted medical visa as his/her escort. Maximum two attendants are permitted with a patient.

This visa can be given to a close relative/family member or a friend of the patient.

Registration is required within 14 days of arrival if visa is valid for more than 180 days.

Documents Required: 

1. Printed Visa Application form signed in blue, as per signature on passport with uploaded photo.

2. Original Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of the Indian Visa issuance, with at least 2 continuous blank pages, in good condition.

3. Two photocopies of Passport pages with details.

4. Photocopy of previous Indian Visa if any.

5. Two recent identical colored photographs, with 5 cm x 5cm dimensions, on white background with 70% of face zoom.

6. In case the applicant holds a 2nd Nationality Passport, a photocopy of passport page with details.

7. Minors (below 12 years of age) should be accompanied by one parent along with photocopy of parent’s Passport or National ID Card for official submission.

8. Proof of availability of sufficient funds for the expenses in India (Official Letter stamped and signed by Bank in English showing current Bank Balance as proof of availability of sufficient funds to spend in India)

9. Copy of flight ticket booking/reservation.

10. Declaration of Medical Attendant as an escort to Patient.

11. Supporting Medical Documents of the Patient required to escort.
