Transit Visa

Eligibility: A transit visa is granted for the sole purpose of enabling the holder to travel through India to reach his/her ultimate destination. Change of purpose is not allowed. The visa will ordinarily be valid for a single journey and for entry within 15 days of date of issue. The Transit visa is valid for direct transit only for a maximum period of 3 days. For a stay in India beyond 3 days, an appropriate visa should be obtained.
Transit Visa is also issued to join and sail with Vessel at an Indian Port.

How to apply:

> e-Visa facility is not available for Transit Visa.

 Apply for a regular (paper sticker) Transit Visa by filling the online application at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html and submit a printout of the application along with the following documents at the Embassy of India Athens. 

Documents Required:

1. Printed Visa Application form, signed in blue, as per signature on passport.

2. Original Passport with at least 2 continuous blank pages, in good condition

3. Two photocopies of Passport pages with details.

4. Two recent identical colored Biometric photographs, with 5 cm x 5cm dimensions, on white background with 70% of face zoom.

5. In case applicant holds 2nd Nationality’s Passport, 1 photocopy of its page with details.

6. One photocopy of previous Indian Visa, if exists, with stamps of exit/entrance. One photocopy of previous passport’s page with details, in case the visa was pasted there.

7. Evidence of travel through India, Copy of flight ticket booking/reservation, etc.
   

TO JOIN VESSEL–Additional requirements

1. Coloured photocopy of Invitation letter (to join vessel) (click here to download sample).

2. Coloured copy of Letter of Incorporation of Indian Company. 

3. Recommendation letter (to join vessel – in original) (click here to download sample).

4. Original Confirmation Letter on Letter-head duly stamped and signed stating that contents of recommendation letter are True and Correct.

5. Please ask for the cancellation of your last visa, if still valid, in the recommendation letter.

TRANSIT VISA is valid for a maximum period of 15 days with Single Entry.
