Employment Visa

Eligibility: Employment visa is granted to a foreigner who wants to take up an employment in India. Visa is granted for the duration of the employment or to a maximum period of one year by the Embassy of India. Annual salary should be more than INR 16,25,000 per year (approx. US$ 19500 per year). Registration is required within 14 days of arrival if employment visa is for more than 180 days.

Foreign nationals who wish to come to India for honorary work (without salary) with NGOs registered in India are granted employment visa for a one year duration. However foreign national can draw a monthly remuneration not exceeding Rs. 10000/- for honorary work. 

Further extension is only done by the state governments/Union Territories/Foreigners Regional Registration Office, and Foreigner's Registration Office.

Extension of Employment Visa can only be done by the Foreigners’ Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) in India in the city where employed. Indian Embassy will not accept any applications for renewal of the Employment Visa unless the contract is with a new Company.

How to apply:

> e-Visa facility is not available for Employment Visa.

 Apply for a regular (paper sticker) Employment Visa by filling the online application at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html and submit a printout of the application along with the following documents at the Embassy of India Athens. 

Documents Required:

• Printed Visa Application form, signed in blue, as per signature on passport.
• Original Passport with at least 2 continuous blank pages, in good condition
• Two photocopies of Passport pages with details.
• Two recent identical colored photographs, with 5 cm x 5cm dimensions, on white background with 70% of face zoom.
• In case the applicant holds a 2nd Nationality Passport, a photocopy of passport page with details.
• One photocopy of previous Indian Visa, if exists, with stamps of exit/entrance. One photocopy of previous passport’s page with details, in case the visa was pasted there.
• Certificate of Incorporation of Indian Company.
• Letter of Appointment (Original + Copy).
• Original Contract signed with Indian Company/Organization in India (Original + Copy).
• Details of the assignment, terms and conditions, etc. of professional expertise.
• Documentary proof of Educational Qualifications (Original + Copy)
• Copy of Applicant’s CV.
•  Undertaking from the Employer that despite making every efforts they have not found any suitable Indian candidate for the job.

Additional Documents Required for Non-Greek Passport Holders:

Residence proof (More than 2 years of residence) in country of application - Greek Residence Permit for more than 2 years or Latest 2 years of Tax Return prior to the date of the official Visa submission of visa application.
