Ambassador Profile
Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon
Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon assumed charge as India’s Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic on 27 June 2023.
Prior to his arrival in Athens, Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon was Additional Secretary (BIMSTEC & SAARC) in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994.
He has done postings at the Indian Embassies in Paris (France), Algiers (Algeria), Kabul (Afghanistan) and Moscow (Russia) and served as India’s Consul General in Jalalabad (Afghanistan). He served as India’s Ambassador to ASEAN Secretariat from July 2018 to August 2020 and to Afghanistan from September 2020 to August 2021.
While posted in India, he has served as Under Secretary (Pakistan), Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, Director (Pakistan), JS (PAI) and Joint Secretary (UNP).
Ambassador Tandon has done a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and is married to an Indian Police Service Officer…

The handwritten travel documents (PIO cards) along with valid foreign Passport will be accepted at Indian Immigration Check Post up to 31.12.2024 . However, PIO Card holders are hereby advised to apply for conversion of PIO cards to OCI cards

Revised instruction/guidelines on "Re-issuance of OCI cards due to Issuance of new foreign passports to OCI cardholders".
(i) Mandatory requirement of re-issuance of an OCI card each time a new passport is issued to a foreigner upto 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age is dispensed with.
(ii) OCI cardholder is required to get the OCI card re-issued only once when a new passport is issued after completing 20 years of age.
(iii) OCI cardholder is required to upload ONLINE a copy of the new passport and a latest photo each time a new passport is issued upto 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age. The uploading of these documents may be done within three months of receipt of the new passport. The service will be provided on Gratis basis.
(iv) Foreign Spouse of an Indian Citizen or spouse of foreign origin of an OCI cardholder are required to upload a copy of the new passport and also a latest photo ONLINE eac…

National Commission for Women has set up a dedicated round the clock (24 x 7) Helpline number (7827170170) for women in distress since 24th July, 2021. The website for the helpline is www.ncwwoenhelpline.in. The round-the-clock helpline provides online support to women affected by violence or mental stress through referral by linking them with appropriate authorities such as police, health services, District Legal Service Authority. National Commission for Women also provides counselling services and information about women related programmes across the country through a single uniform number. The task force managing this project is a team of high qualified personnel, who are providing emergency response to women in distress.

Types of visas
TOURIST (T)
Tourist whose sole purpose of visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit, meeting friends and relatives will be granted Tourist Visa for the duration of the visit effective from the date of issue. Tourist Visas are non-extendable and non-convertible. Journalists, press and media persons, editors, camerapersons, film/documentary directors/producers/editors going to India for tourism can only be granted Journalist Visa with Tourism Purpose. They should declare the purpose of their visit on a plain paper attached to the application form.
BUSINESS (B)
A Business Visa is given those who are doing business in India such as making sales or establishing contacts on behalf of a company outside of India. Business visas may be valid for three months to one year or more with single or multiple entries. However, the period of stay in India (for each visit) under this category is limited to six months only.

Advisory on travel to Greece
The information on travelling to Greece (relaxation of coronavirus-related restrictions) as of July 1, 2020 is a follows:
(A) TRAVELLERS:
i) The entry of all permanent residents of EU member states are allowed. This also includes permanent residents of the Schengen-related countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Romania, Switzerland) as well as Ireland and the United Kingdom. The citizens of following 14 non-EU countries are also allowed to entry in Greece:
Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay.
ii) All non-EU residents may enter if they have a residence permit for Greece.
iii) The ban on non-European citizens entering the country is also being extended. Every two weeks, Greece will renew the list of countries whose permanent residents will be allowed entry, based on EU guidelines.

1. For travel to India, a regular (Paper Sticker) Visa OR an e-Visa, along with a valid passport (with minimum 06 months validity) is mandatory. Only categories exempted under bilateral arrangements may not need a visa. For persons of Indian origin (all categories), a valid OCI card along with a valid foreign passport is mandatory. Visa is not required for OCI Card holders.

Eligibility: A Business Visa is given to those who are doing business in India such as making sales or establishing contacts on behalf of a company outside of India. Business visas may be valid for three months to one year or more with single or multiple entries. However, the period of stay in India (for each visit) under this category is limited to six months only without registration. However, if the applicant wants to stay for more than 180 days, he/she should get himself/herself registered with the concerned Foreigner's Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) within two weeks after the expiry of 180 days of his arrival in India.

Transit Visa
Eligibility: A transit visa is granted for the sole purpose of enabling the holder to travel through India to reach his/her ultimate destination. Change of purpose is not allowed. The visa will ordinarily be valid for a single journey and for entry within 15 days of date of issue. The Transit visa is valid for direct transit only for a maximum period of 3 days. For a stay in India beyond 3 days, an appropriate visa should be obtained. Transit Visa is also issued to join and sail with Vessel at an Indian Port.

Eligibility: Employment visa is granted to a foreigner who wants to take up an employment in India. Visa is granted for the duration of the employment or to a maximum period of one year by the Embassy of India. Annual salary should be more than INR 16,25,000 per year (approx. US$ 19500 per year). Registration is required within 14 days of arrival if employment visa is for more than 180 days.
Foreign nationals who wish to come to India for honorary work (without salary) with NGOs registered in India are granted employment visa for a one year duration. However foreign national can draw a monthly remuneration not exceeding Rs. 10000/- for honorary work.

Eligibility: Student visas are given to Bonafide students to pursue regular studies at recognized educational institutions in India. Valid for the period of study as approved by the educational/recognized institution in India.
Students sponsored by AIESEC for project based work in companies/industries are eligible for business visa and those going for community/social services are granted entry visa.
Student visa is granted to students who have been admitted to Recognized Universities/Institutions in India to pursue the regular studies or to pursue the specific courses. The visa can be issued for the duration of course for a maximum period of 5 years.
